You will work as a member of the Cloud Center of Excellence team and will provide Cloud infrastructure and Cloud based applications solutions and support to product, sales, and development teams. You are also expected to have strong background in Azure Cloud Operations (PaaS), Database Administration, and general networking and monitoring experience.
Responsibilities:
- Help product teams build out Cloud Database architectures and costing models to better understand how their products will work in a PaaS and SaaS model.
- Act as a mentor across the teams to enable a best of breed approach to Cloud Database administration and management
- Capture and share Cloud Database best practices between product teams, architects and other technical leaders
- Provide guidance on best practice to monitor, operate and improve system up-time, performance, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness
- Help identify system defects at the architecture level and test possible workarounds or patches before implementing them in production
- Provide feedback to internal teams re efforts to re-architect, expand and improve data layers for SaaS offerings
- Write and maintain system documentation, architecture documents and operational procedures
- Help build best practices and a sound Cloud Database architecture for our applications
- Help build database change control policies
- Document common problem patterns and create knowledge base articles to improve customer self service capabilities and resolution times
- On-call after-hours support will be required
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related discipline
- At least 7+ years of experience in a Database Administrator related positions
- 2-5 years of experience with Azure cloud databases (SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance required)
- Cloud Database Migration with Database Administrator Experience
- Experience and knowledge of Cloud resources across IaaS and PaaS
- Hands on Experience on ARM and PowerShell
- IT certifications are a plus such as Microsoft Azure Certifications – Data Track
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to adhere to policies, standards and procedures related to change control and other operational best practices
- Knowledge of Cloud Database services and Big Data solutions an asset
- Experience with Azure application management, monitoring and security tools would be an asset
- Comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
